Both sets of grandparents came to Dundas in 1908 and our grandfather Joseph Picone started selling produce to the local Dundas folk in 1911. The street was not paved and he didn't even have a bicycle yet - all done with baskets on his arms and walking on foot. In 1913 he rented where Kevin Martin Fine Jewellery is now and stayed there until he bought our present building in 1915. We have been in this location since April 1915. It's a privilege to feed people and the generations of Dundas families and beyond that have supported this little shop. It is overwhelming and we feel so blessed and so fortunate. The store has evolved from a grocery store to a Specialty Food Shop specializing in fresh produce, local first always, and importing from other parts of the world during our Winter season and produce we do not grow here. We also try to bring to our town Italian products that include Estate Olive Oils, pastas from different parts of Italy, pasta sauces and meats. We feature many quality gluten free products, local bread maker De La Terre out of Niagara and coffee from a local boy who is based in Muskoka now. Our in house prepared food is done with love, pride and joy using only ingredients that we sell, maintaining the highest quality always. Carrying on this legacy is the biggest gift and especially in this loved town that has been our home for over 108 years.
